Winding Down

Well, it's Monday night, and thus the three day weekend is coming to a close. We had a great weekend and got a lot of stuff done. Today has been really cold and rainy. I worked on a little craft while watching Avatar...here's a sneak peak.

I didn't finish it because I ran out of material...so it's to be completed!

I also snapped some pics of my favorite subject.


Saturday Lindsay, Renee, Katie and myself hosted a baby shower for our good friend Erin. We had a good turnout and had fun:) Now I can share some of those fun crafts I/we've been working on!

So, that's our weekend. It was wonderfully long and I am not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow. At least it's a 4 day week though and next weekend is ATL!

“Slack” to the “er”

I’ve been slightly slacking.

The truth is, I’ve been doing some fun stuff this week but it’s all for something that I can’t share what it is until after Saturday.

Turns out I’m not all that interesting without crafty stuff to post about.

Anywho, it’s as my good friend Renee likes to call it “Small Friday” aka Thursday and I’m super excited about Erin’s baby shower Saturday and a three day weekend. Oh and not to mention my favorite Dad in the whole world turns the big 5-0 on Sunday! Whoa!

Tonight I plan to stay warm and watch Wipeout. Gosh I love that show! You talk about side-splitting knee-slapping laughter?! You can sho ‘nuff get some and I LOVE TO LAUGH. It’s like my favorite thing to do, besides eat of course. I don’t know what’s so funny about people in pain but hey if it’s their choice I say I have permission to laugh!!

Other big events for the evening – David is going to Bainbridge after work to buy a new fender for his truck. You see, quite a few years ago two in love teenagers were laughing at some deer feed in the back of a neighboring truck in the mall parking garage. All the while said boy teenager was backing out of the parking spot and was too busy cracking up over the deer feed to notice the large concrete pole about to bump uglies with the front of his truck. Ooops! Haha, well 3 or 4 years later it’s time to get it fixed.

Oh and because I like to spend so much of my time blog reading instead of blog writing, I wanted to share some of my favorite DIY blogs. I know a lot of people have said they enjoy YHL’s so I wanted to share a few more of my dailies.

Hey There!

What a great weekend it's been :-)

Friday night we went to see the Little Fockers with Lindsay and Joseph. I have to say I was sort of disappointed. That always happens with sequels. They get worse the more they do:( But it was great getting to see the Future Sundays and afterwards we got to check out their new car! So happy for you Linds!

Saturday was spent doing lots of crafting. More on that in a week or so when I can spill the beans on what was being made!

Also on Saturday I played with my cricut (some more!). I apologize if you are not interested in my crafting, but it's what I'm most excited about right now so I expect there will be lots of craft related posts from here on out.

I bought some etching cream at Michael's and had been etching to try it out. Haha I crack myself up!

First idea was to put a fleur de leus on a glass bottle.


The outcome was not so great, I think because I wiped it dry after rinsing. Oops.


Okay, take two. I cut a stencil with the word "grow" with the cricut out of clear contact paper. I placed it on my bottle.


Then I applied the armour etch and let it sit for 20 minutes.

After rinsing, I pulled it off and voila! It can be used as decoration by itself, or used as a vase for a single stem flower. Love it:)


Sunday was spent doing laundry and finally putting away all of the Christmas decorations. Everything is back to "normal" and looking rather plain:/ Now I'm thinking my living room needs more color!

You know how they say when you have some money and want to spend it, it's "burning a hole in your pocket"? Well that's what I feel like when that cricut is sitting all alone in my craft room. Like it needs to be put to use!

Sooo...I decided to take on a craft I came across on this blog a few days ago. I thought it was too cute and seemed too easy not to take on!

First I started with some not so glamorous Seminole head coasters. Of course David liked them, but I thought they could be improved and maybe "fit in" better with the living room decor.

David just shook his head when I whipped out my white spray paint. He's learned to stop asking what I'm doing and just accept it. Hah!

Sooo, I spray painted those babies and ended up with this, a blank slate.

Much better already. (love my noles but those reminded me of a college boy's dorm room!)

Then I cut my scrabble letter & number. The points for a "J" in scrabble is apparently 8 according to google so I went with it.

Then I applied it to all the coasters.

And followed it up with three coats of mod podge to seal it!


Complete- love it!


I also got my antique window hung in the guest room. And I don't know if I ever shared a picture of the semi-completed room, so here it is!

Don't know how I didn't get a picture of it near the bed, but the wreath is hung to the right of the window. Remember it's the one that has now been painted three times!

And then I got confident and decided to play with the Manual mode on my camera and got up close and personal with the textures in the room :)

Not much going on around these parts lately.

I haven't even had time to fart at work. Wait, I'm sorry that's unlady-like. I haven't even had time to flatulate.

I am guessing people are getting on the ball with the new year and I tell you what, I have NEVER been this busy before in my life at work. Several times in the past few days I have actually considered walking out of the place. I've been so overwhelmed I have been having hot flashes and my face turns all red because I'm so frustrated! I'm talking phone rings, while on the phone a call beeps in, they leave a message, while I'm checking the message an email comes through, while I'm responding to the email the phone rings, while I'm tagging the email so I don't forget, another email comes through, all the while making a list three pages long of all the "to-dos". As soon as I scratch off something, the phone rings again, or wait, it's another email. Lawd have mercy! I know I like being busy more so than bored, but this busy is just too busy. Yeah, I'm complaining. I should just be thankful I have a job. My bad.

Anywho-zee-whats-it, I got my bangs cut last night. Like I had mentioned a loooong time ago on this little bloggy blog blog of mine that I'd thought about getting them cut. I am loving my new look but have yet to get a "real" picture yet. A few cruddy myspace style phone pictures will have to suffice.

Cricut Corner

It's Sunday night, and tomorrow is back to work. Boo!

I've had a wonderful break and really enjoyed getting to spend so much time with my family. I am truly blessed/lucky/loved to have them. I love you all!

The last of the family left today. It's always sad but somewhat good to be "back to the routine".

Anywho, today besides laundry, I setup my cricut corner in my craft room. I put away the scrapbooking stuff for now, and transformed it. It's so nice to have everything setup because all my crafting so far has been done at my parents during the time off.

I also got a ribbon holder with my gift card to Michael's, so I got that hung too. I've got room for my transfer paper and ribbons too. I love it!



OHHH!! I almost forgot, you may have already seen a picture, but on Thursday, I was on the way to show some family our house and I got a flat tire:( On Thomasville road. I mean, super flat driving on the rim. Found later there was a pretty good size hole in the tire and we had to buy a new one and it cost a small fortune. Thank goodness my Uncle Donny was following me to the house though because I had never changed a tire before. I have to say I'm confident I would have figured it out, but he was there to save me a lot of time. So thank you again Uncle Donny for saving the day!! Jacking up the car to take off the flat

First things first, Happy New Year!

Boy oh boy has it been a whirlwind past couple of days around here. Lots of shopping, eating, family time, cricut-ing, bon-firing, and relaxing! I've been off since Wednesday and I am not lookinf forward to returning Monday:/

Anywho, what have I been up to lately? Not blogging, sorry about that. I planned to have extra time on my hands which would mean more blogging, but instead it has meant doing a lot of the "-ing" mentioned above!

Let's see, I am LOVING my cricut, and so far I've made:

So I am learning my machine and oh-so-excited everytime I complete a new project.

My Mom put the sprinkler on a tree the other night and we had an ice forest!





We also played some croquet.

And had the annual game gift.

And last night was New Years!





Sorry to wrap up quick, I'm off to wrap bacon wrapped cabbage to go with tonight's ribs and potatoes:)
