Scared at first, now I'm TERRIFIED!

"Akeen Cromartie & Marcus Ivey." These are the names of the two men that tried to break into one of our good friends house, in our neighborhood today, WHILE she was home alone and in the shower. She is a great friend of my Mom's and a fellow Bunko girl. Not to mention one of the nicest ladies you will EVER meet. This incident is the SECOND time their home has been broken into, and their vehicle was broken into shortly after mine.

There has been a ton of criminal activity on the NW side of town recently including car breakins and home invasions, many of them happening in our neighborhood.

This morning, Mrs. M I'll call her had just said goodbye to her husband and kids for the day and was taking a shower when she heard her dog going crazy in the house. She said she knew it was a different kind of growl, one that only meant something serious was happening. As she was trying to figure out what the dog was growling at, she then heard someone trying to kick in the door leading into her house from her garage. Keep in mind the garage was open with her car in it...clearly they could tell someone was home. So she quickly threw on her bath robe, grabbed her tennis shoes and a big pipe that they kept under their bed for safety. As she was walking out of her room to still try and see what was going on, she saw the first guy, straight on and he saw her. He ran one way and she ran the other, to the phone to call 911. As she was running to the phone she noticed the other guy trying to break in to her sliding glass doors on the back of the house. She gets on the phone with 911, her dog's going crazy at the door, and the guy is STILL trying to break in. The 911 operator tells her to go and hide, lock herself up and stay put until the cops arrived because she had no way out, they were trying to get in both doors. She said she was BEYOND terrified, and trying to put on her tennies in her daughters closet in case she needed to RUN. As she's hiding in the closet, the guy was STILL trying to come in the back door. Somehow she got through it and the guy I guess gave up, and the cops arrived just as the getaway car was leaving. (one that i might add was a suspect car in a previous home invasion in our neighborhood.)

Sheriffs were already closed to our neighborhood because they had just been doing their usual patrolling that they had recently started. As the getaway car was coming to the neighborhood exit, the sheriff blocked the road and then the suspects went around them and got out of the neighborhood but another nearby sheriff was in quick pursuit. They ended up stopping the one car and arresting the guy, and the other was caught by a K9 unit not much long after. Mrs. M made a positive ID on one of them later in the afternoon.

I don't really know why I felt compelled to share this entire story, but just knowing that it could have been me, completely terrifies me. I absolutely cannot imagine what I would have done in her situation. It makes me shudder to think about it. But like Mrs. M said, for such a bad situation, it couldn't have turned out better. No one was hurt, and the bad guys were caught. Thankfully they were not minors, so hopefully they will remain in jail for a long, long time.

Please pray for Mrs. M and her family. She is such a strong woman and I hate that this happened to her. She is so much stronger than I am and would have been.

Please stay safe my friends.

PS- Here's the link to read the news report. They were both charged with armed burglary. http://www.wctv.tv/home/headlines/43818782.html

Don't mean to be neglectful

But I apologize for the lack of blogging, emailing, etc. In a week I'll be able to communicate again! Every time I sit down to check my inbox, I think again because I know I need to sort through the junk and the non junk and then I keep thinking I need to spend that time studying! So I am here, just trying to keep my nose in the books as much as possible. Can't wait for this week to be over, but I'm definite;y DREADING Friday's exam at 7:30 am. The hard one, MUST ACE IT.

Back to studying...

4.21.09

Not much to write about today, nothing too exciting going on. Going to a first ever Neighborhood Crime Watch meeting tonight with my parents at the Church across the street. I am hoping it will be an informative meeting to help ease me a little being at home alone. I'm just so scared all the time now! Not fun:( I used to love being home alone, ahh the freedom! But now I try my best to stay away from home when I know no one will be there but me...night or day. It's a pretty depressing way to live by the way! We got the alarm "re-activated" and I use it when I'm home, but it still makes me uneasy because I DO NOT want to hear it go off because that means somebody is coming in! I honestly would be scared witless! But other than that, it's the last week of school before finals. I am on the edge of my seat trying to make it through these last nervous weeks. So much is riding on ME. It's a very big weight on my shoulders but I am just praying for a positive outcome, I wouldn't mind any extra prayers either;)

I can hardly stay away from the Twilight series so I'm off to read. Onto book number two and can't put it down. :)

Dunno what it is...

But this movie is SO addicting. It's my new favorite. I didn't understand what the big deal was until I finally watched the movie, but now that I have, I am HOOKED. I watch it almost back to back because I just can't get enough of EDWARD CULLEN. Okay okay, so I know he's a fictional character in a movie, but GOSH just the way he is with Bella (other character) is SO...well I can't even think of a word but for those of you who haven't seen it, I highly recommend it. The movie itself wasn't all that super duper wonderful, but just watching him is enough for me! The movie is made from the Twilight series books by Stephenie Meyer. I am currently reading the first one that I rented from the library. I can't wait to read the rest (4 total). I also can't wait til November when NEW MOON (aka Twilight 2) comes out. I will be at the theater for sure that weekend! Anywho, I'm off to stalk Robert Pattinson online. (Guy who plays Edward). Although I must say I like Edward much better than Robert. Why can't Edward be real?!

PS- David is over Edward, lol. I tell him constantly that I love the character and repeat all his lines hahahhaa....

I'll leave you with my favorite scene of the movie. Won't tell you when or where or what for those who haven't seen it, but here it is. The song that goes with it is stuck in my head all the time because it's now on my ipod!

Terribly Long Tuesdays

Tonight is my last late lab, hooray! I've been here since 9:00...be here til 10. I can't believe how fast the semester has gone by...Finals are in like 3 weeks! I am very excited to only have one semester left. Please pray that this one finishes out strong and that I can get through all of my summer classes successfull, it's gonna take a lot of hard work so I apologize ahead of time for my business during the summer!

I am still looking all the time for Biology jobs available in Florida. It's so hard because when I graduate not only will I be competing with other graduates, but with GROWN/AGED/EXPERIENCED people who are job hunting as well. It's very scary! My bosses at Electronet lately have been "hinting" that it'd be A-Ok if I graduated and wanted to stay there...I work hard and they know that. They know that I am looking to find a career in biology but I have also made it clear to them that if that doesn't happen, I will be looking for full time work ANYWHERE, so who knows where I'll end up!

Anywho, I am L-O-V-I-N-G the any size drink for a dollar at Mcadees...Their sweet tea is delish!

I'm off to study...big test Thursday!

Easter Party at the Dawkins and LCR!

Bunko last night was fun and it was at Mrs. Lenore's in our neighborhood who always provides a HUGE and DELICIOUS spread of food...yumm, I think I am still full from it! We played another quick dice game during one of our breaks and it is called LCR. It's super fun and the winner went home with $24!! Each player brings 3 one dollar bills and you roll dice that instruct you to place one of your bills left, center, or right and whoever is the last to have a dollar before giving them all away, wins the CENTER pot with everyone's dollars in there! It's definitely fun, and the winner, wins big. I can't wait to play again!
And I am SO excited to see everyone together at once! I had fun all morning decorating and baking cupcakes but I was good and didn't eat one yet so let's hope they taste as good as they look! I was gonna post pictures but figured ya'll will see them in a few short hours!

Commitment

Why is it so hard? I start the blog, stop the blog, start, stop, etc...I've said it before, but I'll say it again, I'm back, and I'm here to stay! I can't promise that I will write daily, but I do vow to stay updated! I get so much pleasure out of reading other people's blogs and learning from their daily experiences, that I really want to be able commit to something and keep up mine. They are such a great way to stay in touch with family and friends and I really do enjoy it. So *cheers* to my return, I'm back for good this time! (PROMISE!)

La dee dah...

So I have once again abandoned my blog. Bad me. I will stop apologizing for it and just make it known that I will try to write, but I can't promise how often I will! School has been K-I-C-K-I-N-G my butt so that's kept me pretty darn busy. In other news though, I am starting to actually notice some muscles developing that I have never seen before. Even David said something about it! Problem is though...1) butt is not getting toner/smaller 2) leg muscles growing= not fitting into pants. aye yay yay... I guess I have been working all this time doing the wrong exercises? who knows, but i am proud to see that something is coming of it, even if that means have huge man legs, lol. I am so ready for cold cold cold weather to come. There was that week that teased us with the cold and now it's gone. I want a white Christmas:) Might have to go north for that one though...Oh and I am excited because my birthday is coming up and the weekend of Nov. 7th my mom, GMA, and me are driving to NC for my Uncle's um, THIRD wedding. It should be fun though, I've only driven through NC, never stayed before! I really hope it's gotten cold there early and maybe snowy? My luck it will be in the 80s, oh well! okay well that's all for now, can't wait for KT's shower tomorrow and for baby Rossi to get here!

Long time no write!

I seem to like reading blogs better than I do writing, but anywho, I am writing today! I don't know if you all have actually seen pictures of Ike's aftermath, but if you haven't, you should definitely take a look at these. I really did not realize that the storm caused SOOO much damage. There are several pages of pictures if you just click "more images" on the right hand side...anywho, there is even one of caskets that floated up out of graves...something I didn't know was possible. It is crazy, and I know we are so lucky it didn't head our way because it was BAD. So take a look if you want, and be prepared to drop your jaw at some of them...just crazy...

Go here http://www.msnbc.msn.com/. Then scroll down mid page to the little box that says EXPLORE, click PHOTOS tab, and then click on Ike's Impact.

I'm Ready for Fall

My mom and I went to Michael's a few weeks ago and there it was, in it's own entire aisle, the first sign of the holidays, HALLOWEEN DECORATIONS. I was sooo excited! Fall/Winter is probably my most favorite time of the year. It just makes me so happy to know that the holidays are on their way, and so is nice weather. I love the sun/sand/summer very much, but just something about being able to wear jeans and a sweatshirt puts a smile on my face. It's just so COZY:) I really can't wait. It just sucks that it doesn't even start to get cold here around late October, early November, but I guess better late than never! So come early this year fall!!

We're Back!

I can't believe it's already over:( Our Disney trip was by far one of the greatest vacations I've ever had and I am glad that it happened but definitely sad that it's over! We took many pictures which i will load to facebook eventually, and then comes the dilemma. Disney has this awesome thing called PHOTOPASS. You get a little card at the beginning of your trip for free. It can be used in all the Disney parks and it has it's own little barcode on it that you can go around to any different Disney photographer located in all the parks and have your picture taken. This seemed to be a wonderful idea because our last trip to Disney consisted of about 2 entire pictures of the two of us the whole trip. We figured this would be an easy way to get lots of pics with both of us in it! Now, the thing is you don't have to buy the pictures or anything, but they are available if you want to see them online. We were told you can just purchase a cd for a flat rate regardless of the number of photos and then you can have ALL of the picture for one price. Well we planned to just do that, so for most of the MAJOR photo ops (castle/epcot ball/hollywood studios, etc...) I don't have pics of because we knew we would just buy the cd with them on it. WELLLLLL, we get home, look at the pics, can't wait to order them, and THEN there it is: $125 for ONE CD. WHAT?!?!?!?!?!!? NOOOOO:( We obviously were NOT counting on it being that expensive. There are a total of 55 pictures on the whole cd. That means we would be paying $2.27 per picture...SOOO there is no way I can save the images or anything and now I don't have them, they will be cleared off the website in 27 days, and I don't know what to do? Anybody know any ways to steal pics? LOl. (I already tried taking a picture of the computer screen!! --> didn't work) ANYWHO...OTHER than the picture fiasco, our trip was ABSOLUTELY wonderful. We had heavy rain on the second day, and it was mostly cloudy the other days with rain here and there, but overall it was the trip of a lifetime. Renee & TJ joined us for the weekend and we HIGHLY enjoyed their company! We were able to make it to 4 parks in the two days they were here...thank goodness for the park hopper! David and I ended up coming home a day early though because of FAY, but it was the best thing to do weather wise. David is already ready to plan another trip...we are thinking maybe around Christmas time? I would LOVE for it to be the happiest time of the year spent at the happiest place on earth. Any joiners?!

I can't believe it's only hours away!

We are leaving in exactly 12 hours! Yippeee!!! I am so glad it is finally here because I honestly don't know if I could be more excited! I have probably checked weather.com at least 8 times today because of course today was supposed to be nasty and it said it would follow into tomorrow. One, our last drive to Disney was in the rain, or actually a torrential downpour/tornadoes/you name it, and we would rather not drive down in it again. TWO, tomorrow on the itenerary is Blizzard Beach, and if it's raining, it really won't be as much fun. Probably by the time you all wake up tomorrow, we will be arriving at our hotel, lol. We'll be home the 19th and I'm sure I'll have lots of blogging to do!!

We're off! (well in 12 hours;)

PS- please pray for our safety and good weather!

Those two school posts weren't supposed to be there...

Anywho, today I had both of my finals for my classes. So now I'm done! *YAY* I must say the organic one was SUPER hard, and I'm not feeling an ace, but I think I did OKAY on my physics one...guess we will see! I am SOOO glad to not have classes for two weeks...so exciting. As I said earlier, it's gonna be a busy weekend but I am looking forward to it, especially since I have no studying or assignments to do over the weekend...WHOO HOO! I hope I can win big in bunko tonight...more spending money for our trip:) Which is in 5 days by the way:) Ya, that's all for now. Hope everyone has a FANTASTIC weekend:)
