I need this as a bumper sticker. Or “Caution: Vehicle Makes Frequent Stops at Roadside Trash Piles”.
Why? Because yesterday I was on my way back from lunch and I came across this little beauty waiting for the trash!
SKKKERRRRRTTTT!!! (That’s the sound of brakes squealing to a halt)
I threw it in reverse and looked out all of my mirrors to see who I’d have to kill off as witnesses.
I hopped out, did a quick once over, saw a solid wood structure in relatively good shape, and threw her in the back of my car. All the while looking around like a crazy person to see who was watching me. I have to admit I am usually slightly embarrassed to steal roadside trash. But luckily no one was around and I didn’t have to make the “drive of shame” with my new treasure in the back!
Last night I cleaned her up and wiped her free of cobwebs and I was left with a rather nice and might I add comfy office chair. I didn’t mention, but black Friday I got a sweet 23” LED desktop monitor and finally bought the tower last weekend. I now have a nice setup for editing pictures, and I had a deskchair but it wasn’t all that great so I gladly replace it.
My little nook (with “new chair”)
Speaking of beauty queens, or not, look at this hunka love modeling my new chair. You can’t tell but he was actually really excited when I picked his 100lb. self up and put him there and told him to stay. Not really.
Absolutely pitiful.
I am still debating on whether to stain it really dark, or paint it white. I have plans to stain the table a la Katie Bower’s table re-do. So I’m thinking a matching stained chair might be best (& easiest).
In other thrifting news, I went to Goodwill the other day to drop off those clothes, and I couldn’t help but go inside to see what I could find.
I left $40 poorer and came home with a brass lamp, an old wood frame and a few other odds and ends.
I have big plans for the lamp and I’ll be sure to share when I get around to re-doing it.
As for the frame, here’s the before.
And here’s the after.
Much better.
I made it into a chalkboard to keep track of my photo editing TO DO list. I am debating cutting a vinyl table/grid for it to keep things organized. Just finished it last night though so I haven’t gotten that far yet. We’ll see!
Hi. Like your blog and this wall arrangement! Set up my computer area and looking for ideas for wall stuff. I made a chalk board also and like the way you placed the items behind your monitor. I'm following your blog now! Check out my new page www.sewsweetvintage.com and follow me to see what I do with the wall:)
ReplyDeleteHi Michele! Thanks so much for your comment. I have definitely tweaked the wall arrangement since then but I've still got a fun wall including the chalkboard! I visited your blog, cute cute stuff! Thanks for saying hi!
