Feelin' Hot Hot Hot!

Okay, you might live in Florida if your car reads 111 degrees. That’s right folks, and here’s proof:

Might I add this was nearly 5:00 in the afternoon. Phew, glad I don’t live where it gets that hot. Oh wait, I do, and it WAS! Yiikess…

Friday night was Bunko, and I lost a roll off for my 5 bucks back- just my luck! But we had fun and I ate way too much food. Buffalo chicken dip=pure bliss. Of course I was paying for it in the morning…I know, I know, TMI.

Saturday was pretty uneventful, and ended in a trip to Lowes in which we decided to make, DRUMROLL PLEASE….floating shelves! One of the blogs I can’t get enough of http://www.younghouselove.com/ is full of DIY ideas. For a long time now I have wanted to make the floating shelves that they gave a tutorial on and we finally broke down and decided to do it. You always have ideas and say oh I could make that, or we should make that but it just gets tucked away and forgotten about. Well not this time. We have a big blank wall in our living room where it merges into the dining area and that’s where these beauties are going to end up. (I think). I will put pics up when they’re done. My awesome Father-in-law wanted to get started on them while we made our way over to use his shop Saturday morning, and by the time we got there, he pretty much had them knocked out! So thanks Big Dawg! I filled all the holes with wood filler and all that’s left is I need to sand, prime & paint. Then they’ll be ready to hang. Next stop, finding lots of neat things to adorn them with. I’m thinking vases, pictures, starfish, candles, etc…

Sunday I was asked/invited to take pictures at Zoinks for my mom’s friend’s daughter’s 4th birthday. I must say I need some practice with fast moving kids in low lighting, but here’s a few shots from the day. Oh and I must say, it’s a pretty cool place and I was ITCHING so bad to get in those bouncy houses! Why can’t they have those kinds of places for adults??

My In-Laws were hosting a fish fry Sun. afternoon while I was at the bday, but when I returned I found my boys and the rest of the gang taking a dip in the neighbors pool. I sweated my butt off while sitting there watching since I didn’t have my suit, but got some cute pictures instead!

Oh and one last thing, I ordered a new bathingsuit from Victoria’s Secret a few weeks ago and it’s still not here. Usually I get my suits from Old Navy or Target, but they were on sale and my mom offered to pay for some of it just because so I got one. Well, long story short, something got messed up on the forwarding end (because my address is forwarded from my parents to mine because of the move) and now my suit came to Tallahassee to my parents address, USPS saw it had a forward request, and then sent it to PENNSYLVANIA just to be able to re-forward it to my new address. So now it’s been 3 weeks, I still don’t have the suit, and I’ve already missed approximately 5 pool opportunities to wear my new suit. Although the part that really stinks is I won’t look anything like the model who’s wearing it so I don’t know why I’m in a hurry to get it! Haha!!

4th of July

And yet again, I can't move my pictures under the text where I want them to be!!

For probably the first time in history, at least in my history, I think this was the first July 4th holiday that didn't involve going out of town or at least having something planned. David worked all day Sunday at his old job (City Parks & Rec) and I went to my Aunt's get together with my Mom & Dad. It was a great day at the pool with lots and lots of food and people. Katie came by later to hang out and then she, Remi & I rode the golf cart in my parents neighborhood to catch the firework show from the church across the street. Of course, right as i'm about to have my first play shoot with my new cam and the fireworks, I take ONE picture and my camera dies. Sheesh. My own fault but In was rather disappointed. Anywho, here's some pictures from the day. I had fun taking action shots of people going down the slide and off the diving board. And you'll also see the cake I made (alternate to the rainbow cake I've made before, thanks to Lindsay's July 4th color modification idea!) I accidentally broke one of the layers so it was a 5 layer instead of 6, BUT it worked out perfectly because then I was able to put my cake lid on, which I couldn't before with 6 layers!

Not much longer now either til our Disney trip! I am soo ready to be there. Call me corny but I actually have a Disney CD that I listen to for a few weeks leading up to each trip. It's got all my favorite movie songs and yes, I know every word, and no, I'm not afraid to sing them at the top of my lungs. (with the windows up! haha!) If I had a kid in the backseat, might not seem so weird, but to pull up next to me and see me singing "I'VE GOT GADGETS AND GIZMOS A PLENTY, I'VE GOT WHOSE-ITS AND WHATS-ITS GALORE...YOU WANT THINK-A-MA-BOBS? I GOT TWENTY...BUT WHO CARES, NO BIG DEAL, I WANT MOOOREEE! (Ariel-Part of Your World) in case ya didn't know. yaaa might freak a few people out. Oh well, that's me and so what if I'm a big kid? What's the rush to grow up anyway?! Like they say, "Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional" :)

Eclipse

Thursday night my Mom called and said, we're going to see Eclipse tonight so get ready to go! I have been dying to see it since it came out on Tuesday but we were going to push it back until next weekend so Lindsay and Joseph could go too! (Last year, Linds, Joseph, David, Mom & Me went to New Moon!) Well it was last minute we made it to the 8:00. It was so good! Definitely very action packed and I know the guys enjoyed it much more because of it. I absolutely can't wait for Breaking Dawn to come out in the movies. (the 4th book in the series). It's going to be two parts but was my favorite book so I'm looking forward to it! Here's a pic of Lindsay and I with our "next" husbands. As to whose is whose, we shall share I guess!

Bunko!

CAUTION: This post is sideways, backwards, and as out of order you can get. I can't get the pictures to move below the text describing them, and every time I try to flip them the computer freezes. GRR! So use your head and look at the pictures and then you can read about each of them, and look at them sideways...SORRY!!

Last Friday I hosted Bunko at my house for the first time. I've hosted before but it's always been at my Mom's house, sine that's where I lived and all!

Everything went really well and I think it's safe to say a good time was had by all. There was only one tiny little glitch, and that was that it was HOT in our house! We usually turn our air off during the day (which we aren't doing anymore) and would then turn it on when we get home. Big mistake. Getting home at 5:30, turning on the air (temp inside was a steamy 85 deg) and expecting it to be cool by 7:00? Ain't happenin! I had to bring out fans it was so dang hot and I felt so bad! Especially since so many of the wome have hot flashes lol. But after a while either it started to cool off or we started to get used to it because it wasn't as bad anymore. Sorry ladies- next time I'll have it chilled way before!

We were short a few of our "regulars" this time so Kim & Lindsay came and subbed for us. Thanks girls! Oh and Kim, thanks for stealing all our money since you were the big $ winner! We call that "sub-luck" ;)

The weekend finished out good and included a trip to Dog Island on Saturday and buying my new camera on Sunday! Yep, if you hadn't seen my facebook post, I got the camera from my wish list! I have been having so much fun playing with it. I'm a lucky girl:)

This week isn't too eventful but at the end of it we're going to visit David's friend David, who just bought a house in Tampa. I'm looking forward to it and I know David is really excited to catch up with his ol pal! We're also going to Busch Gardens while we're down there so it will be a quick, but hopefully fun trip. Can't wait to take lots of pictures with my new cam!

Oh and here's the curtains I made for our front door side windows. Before/After. And the new additions (pictures) to the living room wall and bedroom! The bedroom colored prints are actually scrapbook paper!

My Wish List

If you’re like me, your wish list is never ending. I don’t know how many times I’ve used the line, “If you get this for me, I’ll NEVER ask for anything again” and of course, since men say Women are never pleased, I’ll always have an ongoing list of things that I pine for:) Here’s a few things that are currently on my list:

1) A new camera. Or more specifically, a Nikon D3000. I have been wanting a new camera for a long time now, and although I have a new point and shoot (pocket size easy use), I really want to upgrade my other what I call “good” camera. In high school I tried to get my Dad to let me take Construction because that was the “easy A” class and the teacher also happened to be my neighbor and tennis coach…definitely an easy A! Plus it was a class with almost all boys and I don’t think the few girls that were in there ever really did any construction work… BUT, my Dad being the one always wanting his kids to strive and not take the easy way out, told me I should take something that I could learn something in and he suggested a photography course. So I reluctantly took a class full of students that were “artsy” that I never really had anything in common with. Let’s just say, I was hooked and I have loved photography ever since. I soooo thoroughly enjoyed that class and would love to take another class sometime to get a refresher and learn new things. I am no expert but I thoroughly enjoy taking my amateur Fuji camera that looks like a digital SLR but isn’t really, and makes fake shutter sounds, out into the yard and taking random macro shots and anything else I can find. So, I’ve been wanting a camera that can “do more” and I am hoping to have one by the end of this year!
2) Us Weekly subscription anyone? Me please! I am not ashamed to admit it, I looove celebrity gossip trash mags. I could stand in line at the grocery store all day just so I could read them. My favorite past time before I was married and had a 4-legged child was to sit in Barnes and Nobles with a strawberry-crème frappucino and a stack full of junk mags…oh the days. Anywho, I want a subscription so I have something to look forward to every week. If you would like to send me a subscription, I’ll send you my address;) 3) The iPhone 4G. My husband is now on his 3rd iPhone, and I am jealous. I am still (very blessedly) on my Mom’s phone plan because when we got married it was gonna cost a small car and your first born to cancel my plan through my mom’s line and get added to David’s. SO, we have to wait until my other plan ends until I can get switched to David’s when I can then get an iPhone! I got a new blackberry when Remi chewed up my old phone, but ever since I’ve gotten this phone I have had continuous problems with it. Mostly the keys not typing when I push them. What a pain. Also, I have never had internet on my phone, and (still don’t) and I absolutely can’t wait to have the world at my fingertips!
4) A pretty ruffled blouse. I don’t go a lot of places that I get to dress up for (although I’d like to! David wink wink;) but I have really been wanting a top like this:

A feminine ruffled top would look really cute with a pair of white jeans and pretty sandles. I need one. Oh and a place to wear it!

What’s Been Going On

**UPDATE** Sometimes I write posts and then don't actually post them until a later date, which is what I did with this one. And David informed me that I said we just got Remi from the vet yesterday, oops! No, we got him the day after we got back but I wanted to be sure to update this post to say that:)

Last weekend we went to Cape San Blas for our annual camping trip. The weather was perfect, no rain all weekend, and nice and warm but still breezy. The only thing that was not enjoyable were the sand gnats and yellow flies but hey, if that’s the worst that happened then it was a good trip! We hung out on the beach, rode bikes, ate a lot of food, went fishing, and just relaxed. One of these years David and I would love to have our own camper and have our own space, but until then we’ll be bunking with the ‘rents! The whole time all we could think about was Remi, who we had to board the whole time we were gone. I hate that we don’t have a “dog watcher” for him because I feel awful leaving him at the vet. We were finally able to pick him up yesterday because they were closed Monday. What do you usually do with your dog when you go out of town? Another plus to having our own camper would be that we could bring Remi!

Not a lot else going on in the James household. I’m looking forward to a visit from Kim & Josh next weekend and also starting to plan a menu for the first Bunko at my new house! It’s funny because every house we looked at when we were buying I always checked out the kitchen/counter/serving areas to see if it was “Bunko-Suitable”. Ours is a great Bunko house so I’m looking forward to it. I’ve always had my turn hosting but it’s always taken place at my Mom’s house since that’s where I lived. So I’m excited to finally put all my fun serving dishes to use! I’m looking for ideas for food, got any favorite finger food suggestions?

What else, what else…oh ya, we have a Disney trip in the works. Not sure who, what, when or how long but I know that sometime this summer we are making a Disney trip! We’re way past due if you know us, and the weekly emails I get from them just makes me want to go so bad! We are going to have to renew our passes next time we go, but this time around they’re offering 15 month “annual passes” so we’ll get a little more bang for our buck. I am just so ready to go to the place that makes me forget all about reality and lost in a fantasy world!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Friday eve started by finishing up painting the master bath. The painting is now DONE-ZO and and the supplies have been relocated to their new home in the garage, yay! The color is an avocado green and definitely livens up the space a bit. Right now the dilemma is deciding what color towels to buy for it. I love white towels, but we did those in the guest bath. We currently have dark gray ones that matched our old bath décor at the apartment but we’re looking for something that will match a little better with the green. Any ideas?

Now it’s story-telling time. David left to go stay at his parents Friday night because he was going fishing with his Dad the next morning and they were leaving super early and bottom line, it’s just easier to stay the night over there. So anyway, David just left to head to his parents and I was ready to tackle the bathroom. (Roll it). I was about to change into painting clothes so I didn’t have my phone on me, and I ran outside real quick to get the paint tray and came back to a locked door. Uh-Oh. All the other doors were locked and I had no phone, no keys, no hide-a-key, the garage door number pad hadn’t been programmed yet, and all the while Remi is on the other side of the door barking at me non-stop because he can see me through the window and I’m jiggling the door knob hoping it will magically unlock itself. After freaking out for a few seconds, I saw that our neighbors were home. Luckily I’ve met them before and they’re super nice, so I went over and they let me use the phone to call David. I told him I locked myself out and didn’t remember doing so, so he headed back to let me in. As I’m standing out in the heat watching Remi bark his head off at me through the door, I realized that only the dead bolt was locked and I couldn’t have locked it because you can only lock it with a key and clearly I did not have one. AH-HA!! I didn’t lock myself out after all, Remi locked me out! I remember when I first left to get the paint tray, I heard more noise than necessary when he jumped on the door to watch me out the window. Well that noise was him turning the deadbolt when he was pawing at the door! David got there to let me in and I was excited to tell him I actually did not lock myself out in a clumsy, non-paying-attention manner, it was the dog! We got a giggle out of it and Remi was happy to have us back on the inside with him!

On Saturday I met up with Renee and Brody at Dorothy B. Oven to hang out and take some pictures of her little man. I don’t have internet access right now to get the pictures from Facebook, but if you haven’t seen them that’s where they are. We had a great time and we both got some cute pictures of Brody. He’s getting so big so fast!

After that I went to Michael’s and spent wayyy too long in there. Gosh I love that store. I was on the hunt for some pretty scrapbook paper to frame and use as art in our room. I picked out two pretty ones and bought two frames that we ended up taking back Sunday and getting nicer ones.

Midday Saturday I went to a Spa Party at my Aunt’s house. It was relaxing and nice to get a little pampered. We did an “instant face lift” with a few different steps, and one of them burned/stung and I wasn’t too sure about it. Well I didn’t think much of it but then last night my face started to feel a little funny. David noticed it too and my cheeks were really red and hot to the touch. All day today they’ve been red still and feel really rough and are actually kind of tender if I rub my face:/ I’m not sure what’s going on with it but I hope it goes away because I’m not enjoying the after effects of my mini face lift and my skin isn’t looking or feeling so great. Last time I do that!

Later Saturday eve we were invited to the Dawkins for a BBQ and had a great time! The girls did a photo shoot trying to break in Renee’s new camera and the boys would glance over every now and again and I’m sure were thankful they were not born girls. Haha! They don’t understand our strange breed!

Sunday we went back to Michael’s to buy some more frames and pictures for our un-personalized house. We got some more wedding pictures printed and hung and David got two nice big pictures to add to the office. I love already how just adding some personal pictures around the house and not just pretty framed ones makes it instantly cozier and more welcoming.

Okay well I’m sure all that was boring and I’m tired of typing so that’s all for now!

Friday Five

1) I am getting really excited for our annual Memorial Day camping trip with the Fam at Cap San Blas. We have been going for a long time now and not only is it my family, but also a lot of people from my old neighborhood as well. One year we took a group picture that had 30 people in it!! It’s a great time and I can’t wait. Although we’re going to be sad to be boarding Remi, it’ll be nice to have a little break and not have to be responsible! Ahh…Oh and I hope to see one of these too!

2) I am done painting! (I know I know, it’s taken me FOREVER). I started cutting in the master bath last week and finally finished it tonight. Ahh to be able to pack up the paint stuff that is crowding my craft room closet, can't wait to put it away for good!

3) Just realized how much I love this: Three letters: D-V-R oh how I love thee. We had DVR when I lived with my parents but when David and I got married we cut the stuff we could live without and he thought DVR was on of them. Well I am happy to say that since moving into our new place we splurged and got DVR and HDTV again. If you have DVR you know how wonderful it is, and if you don’t, I recommend it if you’re a TV junky (like myself). It’s just so nice to get home from work everyday and be able to watch my guilty pleasures (Holla Oprah & Tyra!) haha, no really though, it’s AWESOME!

4) Along with the zillions of other things I need/want for the house, something I have really been itching to do is to make throw pillows for the couch and curtains for our room and the dining area. Ya ya technically we have blinds and don’t really need curtains, but I think they add a nice touch and if I make them myself we will save lots of moola. Plus I get to put my craft room to work! Hopefully David will see the need in curtains and let me get to work;)

5) Numero cinco. I’ll share something funny that happened to me at work the other day. Since I’m in my new position I am not really “on the phones” yet since I pretty much have to take a message on 4/5 of the calls I answer, which is only when someone else can’t pick it up…ANYWHO, I happened to answer the phone the other day and the first thing out of the other end was “Habla espanol?” (Do you speak Spanish?). Now let me just say I got a little nervous, but went ahead and replied with “Un poco” (A little bit). I have taken a handful of Spanish classes and could ramble all day long to my family but fortunately they don’t know whether I’m telling them something grammatically correct or not lol. SO after I told the lady I could speak it a little bit, she spewed out an entire problem she was having with her license at about a mile a minute. I caught a few words here and there but I think even if she was talking English I wouldn’t have been able to keep up. I told her, “Lo siento, yo no comprendo, mas despacio por favor” (I’m sorry, I don’t understand, slower please). Well let’s just say she was NOT happy with that response, told me some choice words and promptly hung up on me…Thannkks lady, I’m sorry for trying to understand you and help, after all, we ARE IN AMERICA!!! What I should have told her were the few words that used to make us giggle in Spanish when we knew we weren’t supposed to say them. The ones you would definitely get in trouble saying in front of your Spanish teacher! Oh well, sounds like she needs to take some classes and learn some English!

Vroom!

Well, our car hunt has come to an end, we are now the proud owners of a 2010 GMC Acadia! I am sooo in love with it! After much much much research and vehicle comparison we decided to bite the bullet and go with a larger vehicle with room to grow. Although we are not planning to have kids anytime in the near future, we are planning to have this car for a looong time. As in, a decade. SO, with that being said, we didn't want to buy something small and in 4-5 years have to buy something bigger. If you know David, he is the type to buy something and drive it til the wheels fall off. Yet another reason we went with a new versus used...if we're gonna drive it forever at least we know it only had 1 driver who took good care of it. So anywho, we are really really enjoying it! We are very blessed and we know this but we also work hard and save hard for the things we have.

It was also quite the challenge getting this car because David walked out on them several times when they weren't wanting to make a deal, everytime he came back after that they all said "Oh no it's Mr. James again!" haha. Oh well, it all worked out in the end though:)

I have a news bulletin to share if you don’t know already…our good friends Lindsay and Joseph are ENGAGED!! I am so excited for the two of them and absolutely cannot wait for their wedding. I had a newly engaged picture of them that I sadly accidently deleted when I transferred the pictures off my cameraL Congrats to the Future Sundays!

Tomorrow David and I are going to take a quick trip to Panama City, but no it’s not for the beach:/ We are going to look at/test drive/ and hopefully come home with a new car! My lease on my much loved Jetta is up at the end of the month and it’s time to buy something for the keeping. As much as I love my car, I really miss having the space that an SUV offers. There are several that I really like but long story short, we have decided to pursue a ___________! Okay okay so I don’t wanna say what it is yet because if I do and don’t end up getting it I’ll be bummed and you’ll wonder why I posted about it in the first place. Not that it’s a big super awesome reveal but I just don’t wanna say im getting something when I don’t know yet. But just know we are doing all the above tomorrow and I’ll share what I get if I get it! You’re probably wondering too why we’re going out of town to find one, and that’s because there aren’t any in Tallahasee:/ The dealership here doesn’t have any in and so we’re going where they got ‘em. I hope it works out!

Yesterday was a great Mother’s Day which included a cook out at my parents house and a fun day of swimming and hanging out at David’s parents and their neighbor’s house. I finally got some much needed sun but David got FRIED! Oh and Remi had his first pool experience! He didn’t love it, didn’t hate it. We had to pick him up and put him in there but he would swim for a quick minute and then make his way to the stairs. It was such a beautiful day!

I’m looking forward to this weekend too which will include Bunko & a trip to Iron City, GA which I might add has a whoppin’ population of 321! Every year the James’ family has an annual family reunion/fish fry and we weren’t able to go last year so I’m really looking forward to this years! One of the things I’m super excited about is the FRIED BACON…talk about the best thing you’ll ever eat! We had this two years ago when we went and I’m willing to bet I’ve thought about it probably every day for the last two years! Fat kid, I know I know. It’s just sooo yummy:)

Oh yeah we bought a tree this weekend! We have wanted to get a tree to plant in a corner of our yard for some privacy from our neighbors, and boy I never thought we’d be “tree shopping”! We decided on a Little Gem Magnolia. It’s already 12 foot tall and can’t wait to watch it grow! We also got some other little plants to spruce up the front and the backyard. It’s all coming together a little bit at a time. Oh and by the way anyone who wants to give me lots of money to spend at Tallahassee Nurseries is MORE than welcome:o) Here’s our newly planted tree, or as I called it our “love tree” that we shall watch flourish and grow! Hahah Oh and the little purple diamond plants are supposed to fill out rather large so hopefully you won’t be able to see the unattractive slabJ



And here is a picture of our hellion sweet 4-legged baby who steals and chews everything he’s not supposed to! The other morning he snatched one of my garden gloves off the porch and I chased him around the yard at 7 am on Saturday in my PJs trying to get it back from the little monster angel! Oh how we love himJ Oh and Remi got up close and personal to the bunnies a few weeks ago. While David was feeding them and the door was open, Remi jumped INSIDE their cage and apparently needed a closer look! Unfortunately I missed this whole ordeal because I was inside but boy what I would have given for a picture!




Have I mentioned too that Remi loves giving his Daddy sugar? I don’t love puppy sugar as much as David does, so Remi lets him have it! Haha!




One more thing, I gave blood last Friday for the 3rd time in a row! You can physically give blood every 8 weeks and since my blood type is O+ it is in demand and I get calls asking me to come donate. Luckily I am able to do it at the SCBC Blood Bus that comes to my work and if you donate it counts as time worked as well. I almost wasn’t able to do it this time because they said my iron level wasn’t high enough, but they offered to do a “second stick” in my finger to try again. I agreed reluctantly and it was high enough the second time! I have to admit I was scared to death the first time I donated. You sit in a big long chair, and then they stick ya with a big hollow needle (okay not that big) and you sit there about 5 minutes while a pint of blood is sucked outta ya! It isn’t bad though and I feel great about what I’m doing. After all, every time you donate, 3 lives are saved! Plus everytime you do it you get something. I am obtaining quite the collection of blood donor shirts and one time they were giving away pints of ice cream for a pint from you.

I’m happy to share I finally have some pictures off my camera:) Thanks to mom’s computer!

This is what the exterior of the house is looking like these days. It hasn’t changed much but I’ve hung my star and my Mom gave me a cool cactus plant that now tops my DIY madeover milk jug. Sweet!

Next we have the newly painted RED foyer. It was a scary move but I brought in a sign with two little red stars on it to Lowes to have it matched and this is how it looks! I think it turned out pretty good and it definitely livened up the entrance. And we got our cute little entry table from Tar-jay!


Moving on, here is the mostly complete living room. The rug is one of the most recent additions which we scored on sale at Lowe’s. We’ve got all the furniture in for this space now, just need to add some more homey touches like table decorations and misc. knick knacks. I just love itJ

Now, probably my favorite of the whole space so far is our counter height dining room table. We ate our first meal on it last night and it was great! Still need a big pretty centerpiece for the lazy susan…got any ideas? I was thinking maybe a clear vase with lemons and lime to bring in some pizzazz and celebrate spring:)



This is the finished kitchen. Probably one of my favorite things is that little chalkboard in the top left corner that we found on sale at kirklands (love that store!). It just reminds me of a little sign that would be out front of a bistro or something.


And here we have the laundry room, painted in Robin’s Egg Blue. It’s such a cheery little room and I am loving the new washer/dryer.


My craft room is also painted the same color as the laundry room, I just liked it that much! I am super excited to have my own space where things that I work with often can stay in its place and not have to be put away after use. I am going to be spending many hours in this room. Still need to add some more fun décor in here though, it’s my happy place:)


Next we have David’s Man Room/Office. This is where all his gaming stuff will be set up once we get a tv in there. We picked up this great desk from Office Depot and can’t wait to get a computer in there…that’s on the “to get” list along with a million other things.
I though the color I had picked for the guest bath was a Slate Blue, and it turned out to be more of an ocean blue:/ Not the look I was going for but I sure am not in the mood to repaint it so that’s how it’s gonna stay! Still needs some finishing touches as well but this is its current state.
We got our dressers and night stands in for the Master, but our bed is on backorder so I’ll wait til we get it to share pics of that.

And I still need to paint the master bath (last room to be painted!!) which will be an avocado green color. Hopefully I can knock that out this weekend and can put away the paint stuff for a looong time:)

Well the house is unpacked (mostly), the furniture is all here (mostly), & spent the weekend putting the furniture together (mostly). We had a very busy and productive weekend which started with an early morning trip to Thomasville by David and his dad. Thank goodness they were able to get all the furniture in the first load, and when they returned it was time to get to work! I don’t know what I was thinking, but for some reason I though everything would come nice and pretty wrapped and already put together…boy was I WRONG! Even the recliner came in two pieces, sheesh. Oh and I will be happy if I never see an alan wrench again since that’s how everything had to be put together. Then after 75 % of it was done being put together, my Dad saved the day and lent me an alan wrench drill bit- LIFESAVER! I was able to put 4 chairs together in an hour compared to the 2 I had done before which took 40-45 minutes each using that tiny little wrench by hand. Thanks Dad!

I really wish I could include some pictures in this post but I still can’t figure out my camera:/ I will probably say that in every post until I get it fixed! But I am absolutely LOVING the way everything turned out. I am very happy with our furniture choicesJ We had a movie night Saturday and watched Avatar and it was so nice to be able to sit on a couch again!

Sunday we went over to some friends of ours, Brett & Lynn, who live right down the road. They moved in to their new home several months ago and now we live right down the street from them! It’s nice to have someone ya know so close by. A few of us got in the pool but at a cool 71 degrees it was a little on the chilly side! I got in but never really warmed up lol. They fed us a smorgasbord of food and we had a great time. Thanks for having us ya’ll!

Long Time No Blog

Well, no excuses to report as to my lack of blogging. Except for the fact that I have been painting an entire house/unpacking/raising a puppy/starteing a new job...just to name a few! Still unable to load any pictures from my camera because my computer won't recognize it, but when i eventually can get some i will post with pictures! April 2nd we closed on our first place and it has been a whirlwind ever since. I have now painted 8 rooms and have ONE left! Can't wait to get it behind me. Word of advice to myself, if i ever want/have to do this again, i will scrape every penny possible to pay someone else to do it! The house is coming along very nicely though. I've had a few color choices that I may have done differently but now that its done there's no repainting at this point. oh well, if i don't say which aren't my favorites, you'll never know:) As of today, 3.5 weeks after we moved in, we still have no furniture:( Our first batch is in fact supposed to be coming in tomorrow, but there should be more in thursday so we will probably be waiting to get the first batch til thursday or friday. And then the rest should be here May 8th. I tell ya I thought not having a couch wouldn't be so bad, but i cannot wait to have one again. i am tired of sitting on wooden dining room chairs:/ not comfy! um what else...Remington is now 80lbs and still growing! he has definitely entered his "teenage boy" phase right now and is definitely testing our patience...i am very ready for him to be a mature adult and be a little easier to deal with! As i write this he is destroying an empty paper towel roll, all over the floor. Oh well, tis life with a puppy!

Something else that I mentioned above was that I got a new job! I am SO sad to leave my other job but I got offered a position as an Environmental Speciliast in a neighboring bureau and I couldn't turn down a permanent job with benefits. In this job I'll be working in Pesticide Certification and will be approving permits for applicators to apply a VERY dangerous pesticide, called Temik. I started this past Monday and I think I'm gonna like it, but it's definitely not a lab job. The good thing though is I'm still able to wear my same "casual attire" as before, and in fact my desk is still within shouting distance of my old one and my awesome old supervisor! So I didn't have to go far, but its definitely change of work.

And last but not least, the weekend before last was the big Wedding Weekend of Kim & Josh in St. Augustine! The wedding was absolutely beautiful, along with the weather. In fact couldn't have been better. I am SO happy for The Laus and wish them lots and lots of happiness:) Welcome to the fam Josh!

I'll try to be better about blogging now that things are settling down on the home front. Until next time!

It's Finally Here!

Tomorrow at this time, David & I will officially be homeowners, YAY! We are soo beyond excited and so far it has been a very smooth process and I just hope that closing goes just as good:) We did our final walkthrough today and were pleaseed to see that everything had been fixed and the garage door is no longer dented, whoo hoo! Everytime I go in that house I get all giddy inside. And it's hard to know what it will feel like when we don't have to leave again and it's all ours! We bought lots and lots of paint and supplies, and I'll be painting like a mad woman this weekend. The following rooms are going to get a nice fresh coat of paint: master, master bath, living, dining, kitchen, guest bath, craft room, laundry room & office. Whew, that took a lot to write, now to paint it all! It took a lot of "studying" color pallets and making up my mind on colors so I really hope everything goes well together!

In other news, Renee had a BEAUTIFUL big baby boy on March 31st. Brody Wyatt Dawkins was 8.1 lbs and just as cute as can be! I am sooo excited for her and TJ and they are going to be the best parents. I can't wait to see them grow as a family:) Congrats again guys!!

This morning I ran all over town getting utilities cut on. What a pain!

Oh and this is the last month I have a car payment because my lease is up in May! I have really liked my jetta but we have heard bad things about their "aging" and costing a lot of money in upkeep, so we have decided to turn it in and buy something else. I really want an SUV, new or used. But I really have my eye set on the new equinox or acadia. We'll see what happens, if we can get a deal on a used something or other, that's what we'll do. I'm excited though!

Alright, well I still don't have an easy way to load pictures since my laptop is at capacity. But i have a lot of pictures to share once I get around to finding a computer to load them on!

Oh and tonight I restored an old milk can. My dad had one that was rusty and covered with dirt dobbers and such, and I sanded it down and painted it fire engine red and plan to use it on our new front porch as a flower stand, i'll post a pic when I get it loaded!
